I give one star reviews and discouraging descriptions to all my favorite hikes. Not kid friendly, extremely steep, car break-ins, recent fire, no water access, wasps on trail.

Not sure where you live but all the methheads around here live in and around the city. I've left my car in parking lots overnight and on the side of the road all day many times with no problems. Methheads generally don't have the means or motive to travel hours away from their source of drugs in order to go fuck with other people's cars, when they could just stay in the city and do it there.

Various reasons. For example, one had a 10 minute walk down a dirt path into a forest, and then the map lead us across a fence onto private property. Another one was an ATV trail full of ATV's and motor bikes, obviously not meant for foot traffic. Another was just a bushwhack through chest-high swamp grass for miles with no apparent trail after the first 20 minutes.

in washington its mostly white tweakers who break into shit at trailheads. a lot of them live around trailheads ever since the city of seattle started "solving the homeless problem" aka kicking them out of the city into the outskirts.
whenever i see homeless tents near the trailhead i just go walk up, see if they're awake, and offer them some weed or 10bux to watch keep an eye on my car. never had a problem. one of them even scared a bear off trying to get into my isuzu's soft top lol.
