Just got the energizer 300w power bank for $160. Going to use it in my truck for camping. Not sure it will survive living in the truck during an Arizona summer so I might keep it inside most of the time but I’m excited to have it. Hiked down to a creek last weekend and couldn’t take any photos because my phone was dead so at least that will never happen again.

These are cool for camping trips but if you go on a hike you don't want the 3 to 4 kg these weight extra. You don't need that much power if you are busy walking or just surviving. I can go for a week with a 10k powerpack

I doubt 150 would even be enough for a DIY car battery and inverter setup. The LiFePo batteries are pretty pricy, though worth it as they last so many cycles. Personally I'd go for a 60W folding solar panel that can charge the laptop battery directly.

Yes, just be sure the panel has the right outputs for your laptop, lots of panels have USB-C and other ports built in. I used one to keep my laptop going while camping. A few hours in the sun is all it needs. A battery pack is better to have, but on a budget panels alone could work.

I am building a hunting a lodge. Am building a wooden deck foundation for a metal frame canvas wall tent. Going make a simple battery bank from car batteries, these are proven to work for off-grid systems for years. Inexpensive solar panels to recharge, these panels have gotten very affordable if you are willing to DIY and understand a bit about electrical engineering. It's a temporary solution, as I'll be living in the hunting lodge while I build my home on the same property. It is like picrel but on a smaller scale.

You can buy special camping batteries if you want. In some parts of the world, people rely on car batteries and inverters for power.

Inverters are pretty simple. If you need emergency electricity in your home, like to connect to the internet, this can be useful.

Something like this should last you a long time, if you need electricity without the electrical grid.

If you have electricity and cell data, you can go online as well. I live out in the woods, I spend all day taking in the wilderness and nature, and honestly think it would be interesting to go boondocking with electricity and internet.

Most of your shit doesn't *need* 120v, it's just an easy means of power since equipment's meant for home use where that power is abundant. My /out/ernet is fully DC, I run the generator about an hour in the evening to recharge batteries. Still have internet whether gen's running or not.
