I’m bored of being a NEET so I am planning to drive to Sweden.

I’m 20 and have been dreaming of going to Sweden since I was a little kid.

Good or bad idea? Any cool/underrated places to explore? Are some of you guys Swedish?

If you want to go to Stockholm specifically then just fly or take the train or something. Driving in cities sucks and trying to find parking is a pain in the arse. With cat travelling the fun is in the journey, not necessarily the destination. Take the small roads, take some detours, go places you can’t get to by public transport, that sort of thing.

Skip the big cities yeah. Unless you have a masochistic desire to visit Stockholm, take RV55 from Norrköping and go over Mälaren as your map suggests.
Places to stop at are:
Ängelholm (Koenigsegg car factory).
Älmhult (lol IKEA).
Gränna (candy factory).
Linköping (airplane museum).
Malmköping (tram museum).
Strängnäs (tank museum).
Bålsta (toy and cartoon museum).

Bring a tent, backpacking gear etc. You can camp anywhere. Leave your car on the side of the road for a few days. Best spots are along the mountains from Grövelsjön to Abisko. Make sure you drive all the way north b/c those are the most scenic spots:

Roadtrips start here:
1. Fulufjället
2. Ljungdalen or Vålådalen (hike up the mountains, Helagsfjall, Sylarnas)
3. Strömsund -> Gäddede -> Stora Blåsjön -> Klimpfjäll -> Saxnäs -> Marsfjället Naturreservat
4. Hemavan
5. Jäckkvikk -> Vuoggatjalme (hike to Gujjaure or Mavas)
6. Kvikkjokk (big free parking lot, Sarek)
7. Saltoluokta -> Vietas -> Vakkotavare
8. Nikkaluokta (climb Kebnekaise, easy in any weather)
9. Abisko

Find the hikes and out spots from the destinations on minkarta lantsmateriet.
On the way south you can drive along the coast from Piteå to Sundsval which is nice.

Drove to sweden 2 years ago with 2 friends and we camped for a month. Jusr go bro sweden is ez mode, you can scamp wherever the fuck you want. Kinda blew my mind, nd the country is beautiful

If going to Sweden, then go to northern Sweden. Värmland and Dalarna is really nice. But Jokkmokk is whole different story. Bring warm sleeping bag, tarp and buy the sami mosquito repellant.

Allemansrätten is a blessing. You can camp for 2 weeks anywhere except in close proximity of someones home. But in the forest? Allemansrätten bro!! And noone can say anything. Not even police, only aftet 2 weeks bcs then it counts as temporary residency. Which is not okay. But just move spot 1 km or less and it's okay.

may i suggest you continue up north through sweden and finland then cross into norway and go up to north cape, then return down south through norway. can be done in a week if you really go for it, remember we have almost full daylight at night here, your fellow boomers in campervans park at 18, truckers usually at 22-24 and that gives you a 6 hour gap of empty roads where you can do 200 since there is only one police officer on duty for the entire northern parts of our countries.
