I thought smart watches were gay until I bought this. So far only gone on walks with my kids and swam laps. This thing counted my laps for me, gave me a nice readout of my strokes and pace. Damn I'm pumped to go hiking now and test it out for real.
Any cool /out/ adventures with gear like this?

I'm a professional engineer, make plenty of money, but always had simple $80 swatches before.
It's instinct solar 2, it was $350. Battery charges with the sun so theoretically it won't have to be charged much, maybe once a month. I live in Texas and go /out/ in the sun quite a bit.

Maybe, but you could also just buy one so you have exactly what you want, and one that's yours. If it was left on a trail it was probably $35 on Amazon..
I will say it was worth the money to me, it's inspirational in some aspects because it's interesting to calculate everything. I have been swimming basically 1/2 miles or 3/4 miles lately, and using this I just pumped out 1600 (or 1 mile). Counting my laps for me is nice because I listen to music and zone out while swimming it's so fucking boring.

Either way, I honestly like the single color face it's really all I need. All that colorful screen shit is kind of gay just get an apple watch if you want that. I want to prioritize battery life and essential things the watch does not have a fruity watch face

They're all great even the entry ones like the instinct but, if you have disposable income and can afford a nicer one I tell you you really can tell where that money goes.
I shelled out the 700 something for the first gen Enduro (with a first responder discount) and it's been a fucking beast, I charge it maybe once a month and when I go on a multi day adventure I'm comfortable knowing I have all these tools at my disposal.
Then, you can dive into the data and see what's fucking you up and how you can do better.

Just got back from the gym (<2 mins from my house) after I swam a mile, went and sat in the sauna for 15 mins. Really extends the higher heart rate for a bit.
But we are all very slowly dying anon ;^)
