Anybody doing some catfishing this summer? I've had it with filthy liver coming off the hook and digging worms in the heat. I'm testing some home made stink baits tomorrow and I'll share results if there is interest.. Anybody have any secret recipes?

This shit Is pure cope. Hurr durr i catch all my fish on my favourite lure, the gold glitter one. It's the only lure i use. Must have rotten bait, I fish 300 days a year with my own shit as bait and get 6 fish, it's the best bait ever. Just use fresh local baits as nature presents

This. I catch a bunch of tiny blue gill and cut them into pieces and still haven't had a single day where I haven't caught at least one catfish at my spot.
I tried this out at another spot and ended up catching three bowfin and a bunch of snapping turtles.
Animals are fine tuned to find their natural food and will find your bait if you throw it in the right spot. No need to do stupid shit like cover chicken in strawberry jello.

Caught these on a white perch hooked through the back with a circle hook (~20 lbs. blue cat) and Catfish Charlie Dough Blood B (~5 lbs. blue cat).

The most effective bait for catfish, and indeed all fish on the planet Earth, is live bait. You can either pay the shopkeep an exorbitant fee for live bait, or catch your own, which is extremely annoying these days since most US waters are heavily overfished (and poorly stocked and managed), and gone are the days of bluegill jumping onto literally anything you throw in the water immediately.

Picrel are the beer-battered catfish nuggets we made yesterday, by the way.

This is best advice I can provide as well anon. I've been catfishing for 20+ years, done the tour circuit and guided and live bait is hands down the best.my life revolves around flathead fishing and green sunfish are the fucking best
