>>2593544>Haven TentPretty heavy at 4lbs. Also they’re still using nylon for the tarp. Supposedly mega comfy. Dutchware has kits worth looking at as well, though you might just want to piece one together. Not sure what tarp they come with; probably bonded Xenon (polyester). They’re gathered end rather than bridge style, so obviously lighter (under 2lbs probably).
In general:
>hammock body appropriate for your heightIf you’re the normal height for an adult man (>6’), you’ll want an 11’ hammock.
>half nets are bullshitGet a zip on to save the weight and hassle, or a generic full-coverage net with a zip entrance.
>polyester makes a better tarpDoesn’t wet out and isn’t nearly as stretchy
>don’t use nylon rope like a mongoloidIt stretches over time, especially when wet, and adds to tarp floppiness
>whoopy slings aren’t worth it1” poly straps with hardware are a lot easier. Don’t use 1” ratchet straps because you have an old pair in the garage; again, nylon stretches a noticeable amount.
>fixed length ridge lineLook it up and make one. It ensures your hammock is always at the same angle no matter how it’s hung, supports your bug net, and gives you a place to hang stuff.
