I have had White Rock and Silver Laced Wyandotte Roosters. The SLW roosters were awful. They were aggressive to humans but terrible protectors from predators. The White Rock, however was fantastic. He was not aggressive at all to humans. He looked mean, but didn't really care because he seemed to understand that human=food. Even my kids were fine to be around him. Anything else, like my dog, he would charge at of they got too close to his flock. He would also call to them to get under cover when a hawk flew overhead.
Currently, I have Rustic Rock roosters. It's a new variety from Hoover's... Not really sure they were raised from since they don't have it on the website. These guys are still pretty young, but I think they are going to be pretty average as far as roosters go. I only wanted hens, but TSC only had straight run available.
My next batch comes in next week and will include RIR and Jersey Giant. I'm going to experiment breeding the new guys over my Rustic Rock hens. I'm particularly excited to see how well the giants do.
