It’s pretty hard to kill a sounder with a rifle. Trapping is the preferred method. The night time helicopter hunts don’t do much to quell the population, and shooting if you have a smaller piece of land might just chase them into someone else’s property (“not my problem”). This is especially true for coyotes for some reason.

Hypothetical survival scenario? Best case you can take a lone boar out if you can grab it by a hind leg. They are shit at being able to get something behind them. Then dispatch it with a your knife. Stupid way to risk your life tho. It'd be better to build a trap with that knife to take it out.
