I use the same 501s everyday and for everything (including /out/), but they always tear from the crotch/arse and at some point become
unrepairable. Whats a good pant or jeans that lasts for years and looks "normal"? Overheating wont be and issue.

Are these the “Stretch” fabric?

I was having the same issue with American Eagle jeans that were a stretch denim fabric. I probably ripped around 3 jeans in the same area.

I switched to Levi’s with a natural no stretch denim and I haven’t had a problem since. I also wonder if it had to do with the fit, the jeans that ripped had a slightly tighter fit around the thighs.

Moleskin and duck canvas are more durable than denim so you could try pants with that.

Dickies relaxed fit double knee work pants, incredibly comfortable, loose in the waste but a quality belt fixes that, and can stand up to anything, just yesterday my belt loop caught a door latch and I damn near ripped it off the wall with no damage to the pants. they are also reasonable hydrophobic being made of primarily nylon, so they dry quickly. I've worn one pair nearly everyday for 3 years in various jobs, including being a dishwasher, a cook, a security guard (patrolling woods around a facility on foot) and a private investigator. And they haven't even lost a thread

It's hard to buy jeans that don't have stretchy cheap shit built in, which are presumably to decrease wear and pander to obese people. Try to stretch the fabric in your hand, if it stretches put it back.

They make really nice double fronted pants with a knee pad slot. I don't care about identity politics. They became popular as a fashion statement in both cities and rural areas. I really like wearing Prana stretch Zions, they have a small cargo pocket but it lies flat and doesn't look weird. Not great for going through thorns but otherwise very comfy and quick drying. I've had the same two pairs for three years now. I also like pants from Kuhl, I started wearing them when I was an arborist, they hold up better than Carhartt in my experience and are a more comfortable fabric

My kuhl pants remained in good condition until I started dunking them in salt water everyday, but the Vietnamese lady I take them to has been able to repair them every time. My favorite pants I own.

The reason your pants rip at the crotch is because your legs rub together and the material wastes away. You can have your pants reinforced with extra fabric and it will help it last longer.
