Anyone hunt deer without worrying about scent?
I hunt from elevated tower blinds and ladder stands on a farm in the southeast (landowner doesn't want me hunting from the ground). I'm really fortunate and can just pick an existing stand or blind based on what the wind is doing- so I can always stay downwind of my shooting lanes.
The first couple of seasons I stressed out a lot about scent, I washed my clothes in scent free detergent, sprayed them before I went out in the field, showered and used unscented deodorant etc. But when I think about it my body is constantly secreting oils, there will always be a smell on my breath, and my gun is going to have a smell too. I figure I'm downwind they're not going to smell me, and if I'm upwind then nothing I do will be enough to mask my presence. So I'm thinking about just hunting in my regular, every day clothes, which will be comfier and require less effort and autism, meaning I'll probably go out and spend longer out. And I'll just focus on movement and being downwind. What do yall think?
