It would be a bad choice for killing a seal on land. It would be like using an underpowered bow and arrow, and once you loose the arrow, you're now attached to the angry, hurt seal. The chances of you killing it quickly are very small, and until it's dead, there's a decent chance it'll be trying to fuck you up.
