I think if I were wrongly accused of a crime and decided to hide out, I’d car camp on a National Forest road. It’s obviously the easiest thing to do. And because it’s legal it won’t raise any red flags. No one is going to run your license plate for no reason if you happen to be visible from the road. And a lot of FS roads are dead ends; the forest jannies don’t patrol down them because there’s no reason to do so. Just find an accessible gravel road, set up a tent, and wait it out.
>yeah but where do I find such a road?You should have been exploring well before the emergency arose. But you can usually find a vehicle use map. Even a regular USFS map can point you in the right direction.
Then you just have to worry about typical long-term camping things, like food storage, waste disposal, and entertainment.
