>on a thru hike at the Zion Narrows, going south with my father
>day two after spending the night under the glorious stars and canyon walls
>feeling fresh and well, the path alongside the river splits into a high road and low road
>sing "I take the high road, you take the low road"
>we split on the high and low road
>I'm walking up, it's getting pretty high
>thinking "where does this return to the river?"
>keep going forward anyway
>look down at what I think is a super steep section of the trail that goes down to the river, about 30 feet down
>oops, it's not a trail, IT'S A FUCKING SLIDE
>rubble slides underneath me and I'm taken down
>grab on to a tree root, backpack and all, and pull myself up
>huffing, puffing, thinking I'M A BADASS I'M A BADASS
>sprinting back to the split
>take the low road
>sprint and catch up
