Are there any good deals on camping or backpacking equipment that can be found on AliExpress or similar sites?

Have you gotten any Chinese equipment that you really like?

Post some reviews of products you ordered from china, what was worth it, what is better off buying from REI, etc.

So so performance but the higher priced bags def outcompete them. Good for a cheap option if you're ok carrying the weight. Bring a thermal blanket sub 45F just in case they lied a lot about their temp range

outside of Leki's I've not seen a single walking pole justify a cost over $30 and the Lekis shoukd only cost $40 on a good day, spring for cork tho

usually work just fine check materials to make sure it's not garbage

There is no reason tents should be as expensive as they are. 99% of the problems with tents come from the tent poles corroding or fucking up somehow, this should be an easily solved problem for the Chinese to conquer I think

Walmart has a bug net with a floor for $23. A little small at 78” though.

The 3F UL Gear/MIER Lanshan 2 has a lot of fanboys and good reviews, if you’re looking for a backpacking tent. It’s non-freestanding, double walled, and fairly light. There are lighter options of course, but very little at the same price (as low as $140 for the 1 person and around $180 for the 2). I’ve never personally used one, but that would be just one persons opinion.

Is it me or is aliexpress not really worth it for camping gear any more? For the price I'd rather get any chinkshit I need from Decathlon then if it breaks or is shitty I can just go and return it.

I use flame's creed 210x300 cm tarp and i think is pretty good.

For me too, plus aliexpress search engine is shit. Apart from Decathlon in Poland i have 6 million companies producing down sleeping bags and more than 4 producing hammocks (lesovik, fjord nansen, tigerwood, wydra13). Maybe next year i will buy down sleeping bag, right now I use synthetic from lidl which I got for free.

I have the lanshan 2, solid tent. It actually packs smaller and is lighter than my 2.5x2.5 metre tarp
It survived a storm in the Northumberland mountains without leaking or falling
Only issue is that the inner pod was attached the wrong way round when it came and embarrassingly it took me 2 years to realise that it's probably not intentional in the design for the user to have to dogleg while crawling through the vestibule. But it's only attached with clips so it was a 2 minute fix
It can pack way smaller than picrel but I keep my trekking poles in there too and the whole set fits neatly in the bottom of my bag

Anon who wrote all that shit back. No I don't. I don't skimp on tents but buy em on sale. If you want a cheap good tent the REI tents ain't half bad and tend to come in $100s cheaper. But if youbsew Chinesium you wanna test then do it! But always have a backup.

It's still cheap, but not as cheap.

Personally I use a Naturehike Star River 2, it's a fantastic tent for the cost. As well, almost all of my cookware is Aliexpress stuff, just random titanium pots, cups, and cutlery, it's about half the cost of what you find on Amazon.
