Gear organization

How do you organize your gear?
Do you use dry bags? Plastic bags? Other bags?

My wip plan is:

-socks: dry bag
-spare clothes: dry bag
-water filter and dirty water bag: mesh bag
-small objects: idk, either just dump them in the backpack pocket or get some other bag
-food: dry bag

A few things I don’t bother putting in bags at all, like my quilts, sleeping bag liner, sleep clothes, and spare socks. They’re stuffed straight into my pack, which is lined on the inside with a compactor bag and covered on the outside by my Packa. My hammock and bugnet are in an overly large bishop bag.

I keep my hammock suspension and tarp on the outside of my pack, as they’re often wet or dirty. The tarp is in snake skins, which makes packing it pretty easy.

My first aid and toiletries are in a Ziploc freezer bag. Food along with the toiletry bag are in an 8L roll top dry bag.

I usually keep bug spray in a hip belt pocket because I don’t want to dig for it if I need it. Maybe that’s strange. I use Aquamira for water treatment, which is also in a hip belt pocket because it’s pretty small and easy to lose but needs to be accessible.

The keep a 500ml water bottle on a shoulder pocket for ease of access.

Umbrella or trekking poles are stored on my side like pic.

I started using little bags made out of ultraTX for my poop kit, radio pouch, first aid kit, and food bag.

A katadyn befree for gravity water filtering and dirty water storage. I use a sea to summit watercell 4L for holding water and two nalgenes. I can plus up to 12 liters, while only carrying 2L of bottles. You are going to want some method of separation between the clean and dirty sides of your filter. I keep the tube in a second bag for that reason.

You are gonna want a proper dry bag for your clothes and sleeping gear.

I think thats a little strange. I think my 30 percent deet lasts all day. Why would you need quick access to it, you aren't wearing it?

I would like to see a pic of that. thats interesting. Seems like not enough. Are you refilling it with something in the pack? If your bladder fails, are you gonna be able to make it out with less than 500ml?
I wish I had a qt tomboy gf like her.

dry bags for 2-3 months arctic trip, and for the rest of my trips, since they are easier I just don't care and use whatever is available.
2 70D 35L bags for sleeping bag
70D 35L bag for 18 days of food, sometimes an extra shopping bag
10L bag for the inner tent
3L bag for electronics and valuables
20L bag for down jacket, wind jacket, hats, gloves

Order of necessary access; things I use the most will be near the top or in the outermost compartments where I can easily access them as frequently as I need. For everything else, it's packed for balanced weight distribution.
