Companies can't be sure what materials California will say causes cancer so they put the warning on everything.

They'll put that warning on potato chips because there might be an off chance the deep frying process might produce what California deems a carcinogen. Nevermind that home frying has the potential to produce way more carcinogens than commercial frying.

They literally put those stickers on wrenches and sockets too, literally a chrome plated chunk of steel, and often it’s polished and not even plated with chrome and still has the warning.

Combustion isn't complete with those kind of burners, so you have trace hydrocarbon (basically cancer fuel) on your food. You can mitigate that by blocking wind from the flame completely, and tweaking the burner. If you could burn the totality of propane, it wouldn't be as bad
