>>2606619Louisianon here. Usually I stop camping locally sometime in late May or June, depending on the temperature. Summer is when I travel to other places. The parks are the most crowded then but if you go a few miles from the pavement there are fewer people. This year was Mt. Hood in May (again, lol). Portland was actually hotter than Louisiana but the mountain was perfect. In September I’m heading to Olympic NP. Locally I usually stick to day hikes and short kayak trips in the summer; you can’t do anything too extensive in August.
Also, use a hammock if you can. The meme about not being able to keep warm is a bonus on warm nights.
