No desert sight is worth the heat stress and dehydration that comes with daytime desert heat in summer. It's punishing, and can fucking kill you even if you're healthy and fit. Dehydration and heat stroke are no fucking joke.
If you really must hike during summer, hike during twilight or night and make camp under a reflective shelter during the daytime. That and wear lots of flowy cotton with high UPF ratings. Oh and you can't go wrong with too much sun protection
If you absolutely positively must hike during the day during summer, most of your weight should be in water. No other way around it really. If you don't like it, don't come to the desert
