Remote planting

No.2608095 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I live in one part of the country and want to plant in another part of the country.

Do young fruit and nut trees need constant maintenance throughout the lifespan of the tree to ensure long-term quality?

My plan is just to plant them and let them grow so that I can collect fruit and nuts in a decade or two once I move there. Sure there might be worms and rodents during that decade of my absence but I can just remove those pests once I get there, right?

My worry is that animals and pests would destroy the trees so that they do not grow or affect the quality of the fruit/nuts long-term after a decade of abandonment.
