>>2611640When I was a kid I had this book called Marvels & Mysteries of Our Animal World filled with little stories about various animal species.
The wolverine chapter was the supposedly true account of some innawoods trapper trying to take out the wolverine that kept stealing his kills. He kept laying traps for the thing, only for it to steal the bait but dodge the trap. Eventually he went out with his rifle and dog to hunt it down himself. It killed his dog but disappeared into the bush before he could get a clear shot. Despairing, the trapper made his way back to his cabin only to discover the wolverine had broken in while he was gone and trashed the place - it ate all the food it could and scattered the rest, it chewed through his snowshoes and spare equipment, it even pissed on his bed to mark its territory (iirc). Basically did everything it could to ensure he'd starv to death before winter was out. Sadly I can't remember how the story ends, I'll have to leaf through the book again next time I'm at my parents.
