I can survive on my own in the mountains in the areas that I usually hike and hunt. Kangaroo are stupidly easy to hunt and fish are plentiful. Long term survival in that area isn't really difficult. The issue is getting other people together and then getting all of us to the mountains on foot while people are panicking. My family and friends aren't fully equip to hike there but it will always be easier to survive with more people so I'd get everyone I could with our guns and we have quite a few between us and then start the almost 20 hour hike to the mountains. The benefit of being in Australia where no one has guns goes out the window because in rural areas everyone does have guns. So we have to walk 20 hours with guns showing in a group of 10-20 people. Once there it's easier just build african tier huts, form groups with jobs etc and go into the survival stuff.

The issue is getting out without someone taking shots at you. You'd have to leave immediately. You would have no idea what was going on as all communications would be down. You would have to make a decision in faith that this is an EMP and you need to get out right now before everything goes to shit and people really start killing each other.

The Spanish flu killed more soldiers in ww1 than combat, there will never be a shtf or wrol. Anything that does happen will be localized and small scale and the only thing you need to prepare for is retirement and being able to foot a repair bill that occasionally pops up

Grab some sane-ish looking homeless guys and loot carts of supplies as a group. Take that shit into the drainage tunnels and travel South.
