You just go back and forth between camp spots or the next river carrying your stuff. Using water ways as much as possible. Often you don't make more than 5-10 miles a day.

The tours usually last two months. The oldest guy I met was in his 70s.
You have to carry two backpacks of 50-70 pounds each or a single pack of 100-130 pounds. That and you are dependent on fishing if you don't want to go hungry but you will still lose a lot of weight.
