I shot one and it flapped around on the river and I went to go down to the rivers edge to put the dog in to get it and it was gone. I fed a loaf of bread to a groupnof the lil fuckers. Got them to behave and be civil too. I encounter Canadian geese almost every time I walk around a large wildlife refuge system near me, with the springtime being the worst.
Most often, they'll honk when I get somewhat close and then fly away (while increasing the volume and rapidity of their honking) when I get too close for their comfort. Geese that are more used to humans (like the ones on a college campus near me) usually just move out of the way without flying away like they do at the Refuge.
The honking sound is super annoying and alerts the other wildlife in the area of my presence. Between that and their excessive shitting, they're easily my least-favorite avian species.
Only rarely will a "dominant" goose hiss at me, usually while protecting goslings in their gaggle. I just walk by and stare at it the entire time, and nothing ever happens. I am prepared to kick it square in the mouth if it attacks me, but that has never happened.

Used to play rugby as a kid at a park they shit up. It just made me more determined not to get tackled after i got a mouthfull of poo. The only time it bothers me is when i want to chill by a lake and have to find a spot to sit. Now i simply bring a work flannel and sit on it. They dont eat meat i think, so their poo is harmless.
Update: the cops ran me out of the park saying i was menacing others. All i did was throw some bread near some porch monkeys and the geese ran over. I swear ill take pics or a vid next time bros
