>>2616993thanks these are all excellent tips and I was unaware than an slx bfs existed might be worth looking into if the price is good.
Can exchange rates on a lot of US goods aren't great right now. I remember a decade ago I could buy things like this in canada that obvs get shipped in from the states first and come from overseas manufacturers - but the price was almost at parity there for a hot minute and right now the canuckistan economy is in the shitter.
I was looking at a bfs rod and I did already think that dobyns looked the best :D
I went and handled some rods and reels today at basspro they had a selection that looked like it was heavy with holes in it... but I picked up some stuff.
A new mepps aglia #2 with a willow blade, some #12 octopus hooks. Some bass pro 1 inch gummy looking things with a marabou tail threaded into the soft plastic looked cool for a couple bucks. got some line, some VMC tokyo rigs for gnarly grassy bottom and also got a new rod - a bassproshops panfish elite 6'8" light action 2 piece rod. 110 bucks in Canada because of the damned exchange rate but still a much anticipated rod which will take over for another rod I broke. Still gonna get a dobyns and a bfs reel probably spring next year.
Situation with the curado dc reel is uncertain. Exchange rate makes that a 400 dollar reel which is a bit of a pill to swallow when I was really stretching it to justify spending 300 dollars on a single piece of new fishing equipment. Maybe SLX DC is the way?
I like the idea of micromodule and xship desu and I work my equipment pretty regularly and thoroughly I want to max out the range of my casting when I cast from the bank and the one and only youtube video on the subject that did a side by side with limited numbers of casts made it seem like curado dc is about 20% better in cast distance.
