It filters out heavy metals and viruses, where maybe others don't like the Sawyer Squeeze. So its a better filter. But its a HEAVY system for how much capacity it holds.
I don't need it for viruses, but up north in the US there were a lot of mines where I want it from any stray lead/mercury. But even then, if I'm dipping in a running stream, there probably isn't any worry anyways.
I carry it around on certain trips, but its a bit cumbersome. Would not want it on a super long hike. But a day hike where I want to filter some water at a source at destination for the "thrill of drinking from a lake" (larping) I think its great for it.
