What do about mosquitoes

I tried searching /out/ archives for solutions to mosquitoes, but found nothing.
I don't have a tent and don't wanna sleep in a hammock, just in a sleeping bag.
Should I just raw dog it and sleep without any protection? Or should I invest in a spray.

I find it odd that you’re worried about bugs but insist on sleeping on the ground without a tent. To answer you question though, bug nets are like $15 so just use one of those

I need to be stealth because wildcamping is illegal here and I'm not interested in dedicated camping spots.
I thought about mosquito nets but how would I even set that up above just a mat, maybe with sticks but I need to set camp up at dawn where there's minimal light

another thing i looked into are bivvy sacks which seen perfect for me, they're even waterproof in case it rains
unfortunately good ones are really expensive

I used to make a garlic mixture and spray it on my property when the bugs got real bad. I wonder if OP could just keep some cloves around him or if it needs to be mashed to have the same affect

I just spent two weeks above the Arctic circle. Was dealing with billions of mosquitos. I wore boots, pants, a shell jacket and a mosquito net for my head. I also sprayed my clothes. This worked decently, even tho I felt super warm sometimes as I could never take off my jacket.

Another thing is to not drink too much water at night, so you can avoid exiting your tent to pee. Every time you open your tent you will get dozens of mosquitos inside.
