Howdy /out/, I wanna get together a library of bushcraft, survival, healthcare and homesteading handbooks just to have, since I don't expect I'll be able to google for info when I need it. Any recommendations or books you'd consider essential?

If you can't google it, you shouldn't be looking for it on the index page either. Whatever book you decide to get, read it and memorize and practice whatever you find useful. Having a book full of stuff you don't know sitting on a shelf is no use.

Ray Mears Essential bushcraft (great overview of basic bushcraft skills and projects)
The Survival Handbook by Colin Towell (I really recommend this one, the detail and illustrations are incredible)

Camping and Woodscraft by Horace Kephart. Preferably get his later edition, it’s more relevant with modern camping accoutrements.
Kephart’s work on outdoor life captures every element of camp life from group camps and shelter, cooksets, bedding, and attire to the aesthetic sport of fishing, hunting, trapping, caving, beekeeping, and general botany.
It is a must for any outer who is interested in the times of woodsmen from the turn of the century.

Some really good information in this book. It's from 1743, so some of the writing can be hard to understand. Written by John Wesley, founder of the Methodists.
