If you have a long day of hiking behind or in front of you the last thing you want to do is cut up little tiny sticks of wood and squat beside a fold out stove with a burn chamber the size of a marble and continuously feed it for 30 straight minutes trying to boil enough water for coffee. 30 minutes in you will get tired of that and just drink your coffee lukewarm and eat a granola bar instead of a warm bowl of oats.
The other hikers who camped near you, who brought gas stoves, will have long ago finished their warm breakfasts, pulled camp, and gone miles down the trail. All for $12 or whatever a BRS costs these days plus the single can of gas that lasts them multiple trips.
So yeah if you really enjoy fucking around and living inside your own imagination sure grab yourself a folding stove and have a ball.
