These "fishing" shirts I've seen for years are hot as fuck.
There's no ventilation at all.
The fabric is skin tight, thus, the sun just bakes down directly on your skin.

Anyone else get robbed? They say COTTON KILLS but this hot plastic polyesterethelyne fucking kills

I'm just gonna get a nice flowy 2-size too big cotton shirt and call it a day for long hours /out/ in summer

They don't stop the humidity, they get the sun off your arms to cool you down. You have to be on the water with a breeze or in an area with low humidity.

I'm going on a group trip and we were told NO COTTON ONLY SYNTHETIC. While the nice moisture wicking synthetics with SPF are nice, if you're just wearing straight polyester it is so much fucking hotter than cotton. Cotton is phenomenal material when it's hot, I don't care if it gets soaked in sweat. I just don't see where the synthetic mandate came from because usually end up with cheap shit that blows.

I think it was serious mountaineering group in the PNW called The Mountaineers that came up with it because they saw people literally dying when they got trapped on mountains during day hikes and their clothing may have been a factor.

But yeah, any carte blanche answers are universally wrong (see what I did there? Lol). Cotton can be a better choice. Cotton blends hit a nice middle ground as well. They don’t retain all of their moisture but still breathe fairly well. Breathable fabric isn’t that big if the shirt is button down and has huge back vents.

i've been trying to tell you niggers for years the summer meta is a 50/50 polycotton tank or tee shirt underneath a loose woven and light weight nylon or cotton button up shirt.

if its not breathing you got the wrong kind.
not all polyester is the same stuff.
the diameter of the fibers, how its woven, etc are all massive factors.
if you have a uniquo near you go check out their airism shit in hand for an example of really airy loose woven cotton that blocks sun. not saying to buy it just touch it. look for stuff that feels like that. shopping online is harder.

Polyester can be made into many different types of fabrics, from fleece to mesh, so it depends more on how it was woven and formed.
Jersey/knitted polyester fabrics will be more breathable than your standard cheap poly shirt than many fishing shirts you buy on Amazon use.
