I remember the arctic plane crash episode, there were certain aspects that he cheated on, and was forthcoming about it.
I think it would be very fair to say that he has more experience than Flannel Daddy, an army SERE instructor. Which makes him a subject matter expert on survival for sure. Is he the definitive authority on all things survival? of course not.
