Are they worth it? My Anker portable battery is getting more difficult to charge, but when I originally bought this in 2017, portable solar panels sucked.

I thought about getting one, but the only time I'd lay it out is night, when it's not sunny. They don't really work if you're planning on strapping it to your backpack while walking, apparently.

I've been using one to keep my phone charged and haven't had any problems aside from it being "heavy". I've never been /out/ longer than 2 weeks, but it lasted just fine for the 2 weeks I spent on the AT in the spring.

I kept mine on my backpack, but I also set up camp before nightfall so it has time to charge then too.

Portable panels have come a long way but they probably aren't worth it unless you have a camp you can leave it connected to a battery at during the day (and even then it only makes sense if you'd empty that battery through use). With a base camp or a setup to hang out at a few days you can reliably pull a few thousand mAh in an afternoon but if you're breaking camp every morning or just hiking don't expect much.
