So I have a bunch of land I wanted to homestead but it's covered in saprophytes, two huge fields of them

I need to keep the land for 2 years before I can sell it for tax reasons, but I really wanted to homestead on it, however that would mean destroying/altering an irreplaceable natural landscape.

What should I do? It's 8 acres of wilderness but knowing it's full of rare wildlife I don't dare alter it.
