are the Alps overrated?
I get that they're very big and extensive mountains, but the thing that makes them less interesting to me is that they're full of people, villages, roads, trails, infrastructure, everywhere, so you're never in true wilderness, even the other day I was in a remote place and even at fucking 3 am there was some dudes doing an approach march to a mountain peak, and others I met a 6am.
also due to being huge mountains, there's lots of areas that are almost impassable, and so you're obliged to walk on trail.
while there's other out places that are truly desolate, cool looking, passable, like north Scandinavia, Russia, bunch of places in north America.
also, even if a bit unrelated, Italian mountain culture seems more centered around going to refuges, skiing an snowboarding, and climbing, but not doing "survival" stuff like living out of your pack for multiple days, or doing multi day hunts in the middle of nowhere like the us or Canada (wouldn't be possible anyway as there's no desolate places where tou can hunt, actually hunting in Italy is almost dead)
