>>2628549I don't know where OP was fishing, but perch are abundant in many places. They're super prolific and lakes can actually become "perch bound" very easily if they aren't fished heavily enough. There's a reservoir near me that is just chock full of baby perch to the point where they're a major nuisance when fishing for bass or walleye. They're panfish, not a game species: it's as normal to take perch in large numbers as it is to take bluegill or bullheads in large numbers. I've seen ice fishermen fill 5 gallon buckets with them.
