Oh lord.. I went to a small mountain last week. On the top were a bunch of arabs smoking and playing music on full blast. If I hadn't been with my grandparents I would have sperged out majorly. Fucking hate those people

well, it has let me make enough money to buy land and live out in the woods, while working in an industry that allows for WFH so i'm actually home enough to enjoy it.

(relax nerds, move out here was about 30miles from the last place; and i've lived in this state quite literally 98% of my life. i hate california dudebro coders just as much as you guys do.)

There's good and bad sides.

Bad:
- no more secret spots. It's not that bad for /out/ - I live in Europe, shit's cramped enough here that no secrets really existed before either. For urbex, it is truly horrible, though, I've basically given up.

Good:
- Being able to listen to music/podcasts/audiobooks allows me to push through boring stretches (e.g. between small towns/villages) easier.
- Price comparisons online allow for more efficient gear-queering.
- I get to virtually talk to you retards.

It's made me appreciate the outdoors more. Over the last five years, I've ventured further and further down the anti-tech/neo-luddite rabbit hole and I don't think I'm coming back. There will come a time in fairly short order when the internet will be unusable and I will have my books and my shack in the foothills, as planned.

I'm not sure how it is where you live, but here, stretches of route between small towns are frequently you walking by a large highway, with cars on one side and industrial facilities on another (or fields - these are nice, but the cars still ruin it). I get plenty of such stimulation from living in the city, hence the headphones. Of course, I do take them off and listen to my surroundings when I'm on some lone and quiet trail out back.

I drive a box truck for the county and this job has given me a Pilonidal cyst, a condition that only occurs from sitting for long periods, sweating, and having a lot of ass hair. Gonna get it operated on tomorrow but I can’t help but know that this would have never happened to me without the 8 hour work shift and driving all day in the heat with a useless AC and torn up seats.

I reckon it’ll blow over in about 4 weeks, I believe the doctor is gonna give me the closed wound surgery, I’m just wondering about going back to work driving the box truck, it’s the best job I ever had and I’d hate this damn cyst surgery to compromise it. Doctor wants me to keep my hair trimmed off back there for a long time. I love backpacking and camping and would like to hunt this winter but I’m afraid how recovery will effect this.

first time i had it was the closed wound.. it was awful. taking a shit was the worst (especially since the amount of painkillers you'll be on means guaranteed constipation)

2nd time was left open, and it took forever to heal. i was in college by then, and smoking, so that lengthened the healing time.

not the most pleasant surgery / condition to have. one bit of advice though, get a bidet.
