This, and get smaller cranks. 10mm crank length short = 10mm higher seat and 20mm less knee height at the top of your stroke, it makes a huge difference.

I've only been on a bike once in the last decade. Did 138 miles on a shitty £200 hybrid. Knees didn't hurt until ~70-80 miles in. Just rub a little deep heat on them.

Cycling shouldn't hurt your knees. If it does you've either got a pre-existing problem or your bike isn't fitted properly. Or you're pedalling in too hard of a gear the whole time.
