>>2633625I feel you. Used to go hunting whitetail in northern Mexico in the late 90's early 00's. Got stopped by soldiers a couple of times w/o incident (all guns and papers in order). Shit got impossible from '06. Heard several stories from fellow fishing/hunting buddies of getting shookdown for several thousand dollars.
As for hiking/camping there's little to go about, save for the central volcanos (colima, toluca, popocatepetl).
Also no decent waterways, due to geography. There is some whitewater rafting in Veracruz. But overall /out/ culture in mexico was very weak, now it's dying if not dead already.
