What you bring depends on what you are doing, if you are just car camping at a State park or something you might not need anything more than a tent and sleeping bag. Is the group supplying food and drink or are you expected to bring your own supplies? I am guessing this isn't their first trip and they should be able to tell you the basics of what you need, if it is their first trip talking to them and finding out exactly what the plan is will allow you to prepare accordingly.
