Why does it seem that real life landscapes, mountains, canyons, ect look way more impressive in person than in a picture? The feeling extends to fiction too, I saw Avatar 2 in Imax (which apparently made tons of people depressed because reality "couldn't compete" with the movie) and hiked Rainier the next day and was WAY more blown away by the real landscape than anything in the film.
