>>2640152I was a vagabond for a year, was pretty cool. It's what I needed and it changed my life, I was ready to go back into society and become productive once I had enough.
My advice is to get a shitty job and save up a few grand before doing it. You do NOT want to have to panhandle to survive. All kinds of psychos will approach you thinking you're desperate and will do anything for money. Walking and hitchhiking SUCKS ASS. The vast majority of America was settled by wagon trains and the distances involved do NOT work for walking. Get a bicycle and you can travel the world, man. I rode from Denver to NYC over the summer of 2018 and it was the most liberating experience you can possibly imagine. I used a $130 Schwinn Trailway some autist bike mechanic had spruced up and posted on craigslist, and it lasted me the entire way with only 1 repair needed.
Do it, be a vagabond, get it out of your system. You're gonna live in regret for the rest of your life if you don't. It took me a year to sort my shit out on the road, and it may take you longer or shorter but you'll never know if you don't try.
And don't even think about how it will "waste time." I hit the road when I was 24 and now 6 years later I'm the owner of a successful company and I've never been happier with life.
