I live in VT, family of four, out in the woods, have a farm, garden, guns, tools etc. Quite comfortable with my life, can fix stuff, etc.

My home is newly built and comfortable. Outdoor wood furnace and solar panels are great and help when we lose power.

I have money saved and it's in a slow but "safe" money market, or whatever the fuck it is.

Let's say the country collapses and people start resorting to stealing shit and forming gangs. I'd like to say I don't think that it will happen in my lifetime, but I don't find it too farfetched. I've read enough books and seen enough movies to sensationalize it in my head, but I think there's a chance that there are people who might try to come take my shit because they are hungry and destitute, or simply bad people and have guns.

What can be done to prepare?
