Oh, if you haven't done it, a nice trail is to High Rock in the Savage River State Forest. It's a pretty short trail, 1 mile each way, about 500 feet of elevation gain (moderate), and the view at the top is decent, though there's a fenced off fire tower that assumedly offers a superior view
there's also a really fun powerline view (both sides) at warrior wildlife management area, park at the radio transmitter and walk down the trail and it opens up to a nice view in a bit less than a mile.
I feel like you might need a permit to camp in Savage River State Forest but that's probably a decent option. You can also whitewater raft the savage river, the upper yough, the stonycreek river, and the north branch potomac when there's dam releases
