Need help planning an upcoming project. At the end of the year, my best mate and I will be hitchhiking from Mumbai to Bangkok via Myanmar.
Tickets are booked. We have 55 days to make the trip. Plan is to hitch the whole way, and avoid hostels and tourists spots, maybe do a hike or two along the way.
I am trying to figure out what kit to take, we want to be compact and fast. We will be sleeping rough each night, either on the side of the road, fields or in home stays when lucky. Weather should be warm (10+ at night) and very dry.
Currently toying with the idea of a Snugpak jungle bag, with a cheap bivy + tarp in case of rain. Can you guys recommend any other bivys for something like this.
Also trying to find a decent bag since mine are all too big, Ive been thinking decathlon...
Finally, sleeping mat wise. Foam vs inflatable? What are your thoughts for an adventure like this? And if anyone could recommend a good foam mat that would be great.
All tips and ideas appreciated. Have done some long hitchhikes in India before, so not a total idiot. We are Aussies and broke btw, so might be hard to get some kit.
Also, would u guys like to see this trip documented on social media? Until we end up being killed that is.
