I like to assume the fetal position and roll myself down. Start with smaller sets of stairs to prepare your body for longer ones.

open my rope bag, figure 8, clip it with a steel biner to the right railing, repeat on the opposite railing, throw rest of rope down steps, put on my harness, clip petzl asap to one strand, ID on the other, double check knots and connections, abseil down steps, leave gear since alpine retreat.

Even though it's not /out/, stairs offer good training opportunities for serious /out/ hikes. Running up and down them provide some of the best training you can get if you don't have any real terrain near you. That's how people from places like Chicago are able to summit 14ers even if they can't train at elevation like people who live out west.

Lol OP I love those stairs. for anyone in the thread wondering, these are known as the Exorcist Steps and they are in DC. they are about 75 steps high I believe with 6+ inches each step.

I did 30 repeats one time on these racing my little bro and with my dad just doing his best. stair repeats like these are THE best way to train for lots of elevation gain and long scrambles if you can't go to the mountains. just a cool part of DC.
