Hello /out/, what are the best techniques to get water from the forest? Also, what are the good ways to turn snow into drinkable water (without losing energy)?

if Youre out in the snow a fire would be great. dont melt and drink the dope layer its usually dirty. dig a bit melt that. if in the summer or spring a plastic trash bag ( the big ones) you could wrap it around a branch that has a lot of leafs tie it down/seal it wait a few hrs. ta da water!

What if birch isn't widely available?

You surely couldn't get enough sap to sustain your self.

Doesn't it only produce sap during certain seasons?

What other ways can we get water in a forest? Obviously rivers, but what else?

Evaporation of water from leaves, morning dew etc.

Will not give you tons of water but small quantities are better than nothing.

What kind of forest are you talking about btw?

Also, drinking animal blood works but catching the animals might take some energy. Traps could be used but I'd see it as an emergency thing.

I thught it was common knowledge that blood is good for you.
I actually dont have a source, but i know alot of indigenous people drink blood when they hunt.

just going to point out snow doesn't actually have very much water in it and that's the main problem there. You'd want ice. melting into a receptacle by fire is probably to most efficient way if possible.
