My dream is to live above the tree line full year, hiking there is one thing but living there?
How does one prepare? How do you survive the winter? What do you even do apart from cooking and reading?

You will want to chew coca leaves and drink coca tea to combat the array of illnesses which will afflict you above the treeline. Your mucosal layer and blood oxygenation will require years of living up there before they settle in. You'll likely die of pneumonia first, though, and so there is that.
