There was another thread about ponchos a few days ago, specifically the MLD poncho. Nearly all ponchos have shitty hood designs. I’m guessing the manufacturers put little or no effort into actually designing them since the demand isn’t that great. I mean they could have copied existing designs or something, but they didn’t. It’s like these ponchos are just a side project or afterthought.
Pic is an Arc’tyrex Beta. The hood cinches around the face, is horizontally adjustable around the head (the adjustment is on the back of the hood), has a structural bill, and can cover the users mouth (though it looks like it fits better if warn under the mouth and just over the chin).
Why haven’t poncho manufacturers follows suit? You’ll find some features on some models, but never on all of them. Most have no structure to the hood, making it useless if you don’t have a ball cap. And most don’t close around your chin; some are basically v-necks.
Everyone knows a poncho becomes a flappy, billowy annoyance in high winds, so why don’t any of them have integrated belts? Even the cheapest jogging pants and swimsuits have draw strings.
Pockets? Haha, fuck you.
