>>2647516good to see someone on this board actually going outside.
but i want to hear a compelling argument why i should go out of my way to make myself less comfortable.
let's say just a random guess i've spent between $10k-$20k on hiking gear in the last 20 years.
now let's also imagine i live in the sort of place you're posting vacation photos of full time and hike it frequently (cascades)
have i not gotten my money's worth?
aside from free stuff like collecting pirated media its probably my cheapest hobby.
i've learned enough lessons from having cheap gear fail and turn a relaxing hike into a survival situation or a possible one over the years.
you can get away with it if you're an east coast city fag who only hikes on occasion but on a long enough timeline i'd rather not be the guy who got hypothermia and died to cheap out on a pair of hiking pants.
>pantsoh also i climb so its more expensive to wear something like your skinny jeans.
ever have the crotch rip the entire pant leg of the jeans you're wearing open and split your jeans in half in the middle of the woods?
yeah i'll stick to my $100 stretchy nylon hiking pants that have a gusseted crotch for climbing.
>jeansamazing in the outdoors.
but you don't know why (cargo cult shit) so you're showing it off in strictly inappropriate situations.
when i'm foraging for mushrooms in the woods or picking blackberries i wear full denim.
its cheap rugged stops the wind its not too warm. nothing better for the job on a fair weather day which is when you'd want to do those things to begin with.
its great for bushwhacking in the summer or in places you can reliably expect no rainfall.
its what i wear when i climb & fell trees.
i could go on forever.
