I hunt on public land during rut.I live in Alabama so the deer are smaller, faster, smarter. I’ve narrowed their tracks down along a specific railroad and some rolling hills behind it made of wheat, etc. There’s quite a bit of woods and the last time I went they spotted me before I even saw them. The majority of the valley is pretty open (I was in the treeline on a hill).

Would it be wiser to insert at midday, create a natural blind and wait? I don’t hunt high fence but when I have done there have been green fields. What is the best way to hunt wild deer when your scent is out in the open?
