i noticed that 100% of stray dogs with long hair are quiet and don't show any aggression. it's always the short hair dogs that terrorize me

My neighbour has a short haired dog that was a stray in costa rica. They let the dog run around the neighbourhood as she wants. It's some pitbull mix. Nicest dog I've ever met. When I first saw her, I put her on a leash and walked around trying to find someone who knew the owner. She didn't fight the leash, stayed at my heel perfectly.

sure, even a pitbull can be properly trained. my point is that the long hair dogs just seem to always be trained, or they know to not instigate anything. one time there was a random husky sitting in front of my house, and tried to follow me inside as if it was my own dog. meanwhile, every doberman has sperged out whenever i encountered one

in most states its legal to shoot someone's off leash dog, all you have to say is it was running at you. dyor though its not the case in every jurisdiction just most.

Dogs can help a lot if you have a flock to keep in line or to protect from wolves.
There are othe specific professional use for dogs (guad dogs, rescue ans so on...).
Now, if you live in a city with a small apartement and have a large dog you're just making it suffer.
Some people also have pets because the company of living thing and don't reseach what dog breed they should own and don't stop to think if they should own a pet at all.

That's half the problem with Pitbull's is they're a actually very lovely and friendly, good with children, smart, empathic. Then they also have a prey instinct that can just turn on one day and it'll maul your child. Someone might have 10 Pitbull's in their life and they're all great dogs and then one goes and does it.

Might carry an unregistered firearm or a makeshift knife-spear in my future hikes just for these fuckers. You probably just need to seriously hurt a single one, and the rest will scatter

What I DO mind however are the 50000 pajeets that now seem to permanently exist at every hiking trail and nature destination in the western US. They walk slow, they litter, they’re constantly YELLING at each other in their stupid fucking language. Where did they all come from? It wasn’t like this before covid.

If you like eating meat then well there's that. A couple good dogs, you can muster thousands of acres of pastoral land. And you can chop up a couple old sheep for them every week or two, so not so expensive to keep if you are in the trade. And maybe they'll even catch you a fat piggie on the way home too, and be your best mates out the back of 2000 acres some place.
